COACH PITCH
SUPPLEMENTAL BASEBALL RULES
These rules are intended to be supplemental to the Dixie Youth Baseball Coach Pitch Rules. Where conflicts exist, these supplemental rules will prevail.
PLAYING FIELDS
- The home team will be on the first base side.
- Each team is responsible for cleaning its dugout and spectator areas of all trash.
- On Field 2 an outfield fence line will be marked at 200 feet. A fly ball which lands in fair territory beyond this line shall be considered a home run. A hit ball which strikes the ground in fair territory short of this line and then travels beyond the line, regardless of whether the ball is touched by a defensive player, shall be considered a ground rule double.
EQUIPMENT
- All players must wear regulation uniform. Jersey, cap and socks issued by Fairfield Sports. All players on a team must be wearing the same color baseball pants.
- Sneakers/cleats must be worn, no exceptions.
- No jewelry.
- All batters, on deck batters, and base runners must wear helmets.
- All catchers must wear approved protective gear and a protective cup. Game will be delayed until protective cup is in place.
COACH PITCH RULES
- A complete game will consist of five (5) innings. A new inning may not be started after an elapsed game time of one hour fifteen minutes. Any inning started shall be played to completion regardless of time. In the event time does not allow for the playing of a complete game, the final score shall be as of the last complete inning. In the event of a tie score at the completion of five innings or elapsed time, the game results shall be recorded as a tie.
- Base runners are not permitted to lead off or steal bases and must remain in contact with the base until the ball is hit.
- The inning for the offensive team is over after five (5) runs have scored or three (3) outs.
- Coach Pitchers must deliver the pitch from a distance of at least 35 feet from home plate.
- Each batter may be thrown 5 pitches. In the event the fifth pitch is a fouled third strike, the batter may receive another pitch. The batter may continue to receive pitches as long as he continues to foul the third strike.
- If a player does not want to participate in the game, he can be removed without penalty.
- Games may be called if the fields are not playable due to mud, standing water, adverse weather warnings in the area or lightning in the area.
- Games may be called before they have started by the Baseball Commissioner. After the game has started, only the home plate umpire may call the game.
- Both managers will exchange a roster of players before each game. This roster will also represent the team's batting order. Teams must bat the entire roster. If a player arrives at any time after the game has started, he will be added to the bottom of the roster.
- Other than for injury or disciplinary reasons, each player must play at least every other complete inning defensively. Players can remain at any defensive position either infield or outfield. A complete inning is defined as playing for all three(3) outs in that inning.
- A team is permitted to have a maximum of three (3) activities per week. An activity is defined as a game, practice, scrimmage, or any other activity at which player attendance is expected.
COACHES
- Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, their parents, friends of the team, and their own conduct, both on and off the field at practices and games.
- Good sportsmanship is required at all times. Foul language and inappropriate behavior is not permitted.
- The only coaches allowed on the field during play are the offensive base coaches and the Coach Pitcher. All other coaches must be inside the dugout.
- All reasonable efforts should be made to start games at the scheduled starting time.
- An adult (preferably a coach) must be in the dugout with the players at all times.
- Coaches must not leave the playing area after games or practices until all players have departed with a parent.
