Basketball League Rules:

8 & 9-10 year olds (co-ed), 9-12 year olds (girls) and 11-15 year olds (boys)

 

High School (UIL) rules apply except for the following:

·        Games: Each game will consist of four-(4) eleven minute quarters (Clock stopped only in the last two minutes of the second and fourth quarter).

·        Each team is allowed three (3) one – minute time-outs per game (used at any time throughout the game).

·        There will be a one-minute break between quarters and a three minute break at half-time.

·        Games will begin with a jump ball to determine possession. Each possession thereafter will be played in an alternating order.

·        In the event of a tie, a two (2) minute overtime will be played to determine the winner. If the game remains tied it is a tie. Defense: Zone defense and Man to Man will be allowed. Back-court presses will only be during the last two minutes of the second and fourth quarter in the girls league and 8-10 year old coed league. Standard UIL rules apply in the 11-15 year old boys league.

·        Each team will be required to provide one scorekeeper and/or a time-keeper and one facility monitor to keep spectators off the court. Failure to have a representative will result in a technical.

·        Regulation Free Throw line will be used for free throws in the 11-15 year old boys league. A 12 ft. line for the 8-10 year olds co-ed & girls leagues.

·        Regulation Full Size basketball will be used for the boys and a WNBA regulation ball for girls.

·        Games will be played on a full regulation court at the FAC (Rec Center).

·        Taunting/exuberant celebration (disrespect to an opponent) will result in a Technical Foul.

·        Two technical fouls in a season by a player or coach due to behavioral issues will lead up to and may include a possible suspension.

·        Any player disrupting play during a game, as a spectator will be warned for the first offense, suspended one game for the second offense, and could lead up to and include a possible suspension for the season for the third offense.

·        If a team is unable to field 5 players, they may elect to play with 4 players. If less than 4 players are available, the result is a forfeiture of that game. 

·       3 second lane rule will apply.

·        Each player must play a minute total of two quarters minimum per game. No player can play more than three consecutive quarters. All players must sit out a minimum of 6 minutes, unless you have 5 players or less.

·        Two referees will be used:  One paid official and one coach volunteer.

·        Practice times available Monday – Wednesday 6 – 9pm and Sunday 1 - 4pm.

·        Season consists of 8 games with a two team playoff.

·        No food or drink allowed in the gym.
